Zoo Announces Bornean Orangutan Pregnancy
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is thrilled to announce that Ruby, a 26-year-old female Bornean orangutan, is expecting. The infant, sired by 23-year-old male Denda, is anticipated to arrive in February 2026.
Ruby has been a valued member of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium since 2007 and this is her first pregnancy. Denda joined the Zoo in 2024 with the opening of the reimagined Hubbard Orangutan Forest, an immersive habitat that brings guests closer to orangutans and ...

Zoo Announces Increased Capacity on Grounds and Reopening of Hubbard Expedition Madagascar, Gorilla Valley, and Orangutan Forest
The Zoo is happy to announce the reopening of Hubbard Expedition Madagascar, Hubbard Gorilla Valley, and Hubbard Orangutan Forest on Friday, July 3. The Elevator building, which provides access to these areas, will also be open. Overall capacity of the Zoo has been increased to 9,200 people on grounds, while keeping building capacity at 50 percent of occupancy rate.
