Please respect the animals and their habitats while visiting Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium. The following has been established for their safety, as well as our staff and you, our visitors.
Remain on designated pathways and behind safety barriers, such as a fence, wall, glass or similar boundary. Each habitat is uniquely designed for the species living there and done in such a way to keep the animals and visitors safe.
Treat "others" the way you want to be treated. Be good stewards of nature and the surrounding environment. Refrain from taunting, yelling, banging on the enclosures and throwing objects into animal habitats. Please also be respectful to those working to keep you and the animals safe: our staff members.
Please keep your hands to yourselves. Our inhabitants are still wild animals and can be extra adventurous when exploring their surroundings. They will even defend themselves and their territory if they feel threatened. Gentle touching of the animals is, however, encouraged in the following areas: African pygmy goat area in Bay Family Children's Adventure Trails, the Touch Tank in the Scott Aquarium, the goat kraal in the Scott African Grasslands and Stingray Beach. Zoo staff members are present in these areas to monitor and demonstrate how to properly do so.
Please leave the feeding of the animals to our staff. All of the Zoo's animals are on specialized, veterinarian-approved diets that have been formulated by our Nutrition Department and very closely resemble what they would eat in the wild. Your snacks are not on the menu, as they would not find what's tasty to you in their native range. Eating anything outside of their normal diet can put their health and welfare at great risk.
Be kind to free-roaming Zoo animals and local wildlife by viewing them from a safe distance. The Zoo is their home or at least a stopping point as they make their journey elsewhere.
Leave the plants and trees around you just as you found them: untouched. They prefer to stay "rooted" in their environment, just as you would to grow big, strong and safe.
The following are not allowed inside the Zoo:
Out of the safety of visitors, our staff and animals, Zoo personnel reserves the right to inspect bags, strollers, wagons and other items carrying belongings on site.

To that end, the Zoo follows the requirements outlined by the U.S. Department of Justice in providing reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities. Zoo supervisory staff have received specific education regarding the service animal component of these requirements.
When someone arrives with a service animal, a Zoo supervisor asks two questions to determine if the animal meets the criteria established by the U.S. Department of Justice:
Is the service animal required because of a disability?
What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
If these two questions are answered, and if the answers fit within the requirements, the person and service animal may enter the Zoo.
The Zoo does not have lockers available. Guests are welcome to bring their own bags, coolers and wagons to carry around the Zoo. No glass containers or alcohol are allowed.
