Starting Early to Inspire Tomorrow’s Leaders
Established in 2001, Zoo Kindergarten is a one-of-a-kind, place-based classroom created in partnership with Omaha Public Schools’ Bancroft Elementary. Located within the Robert B. Daugherty Education Center, this satellite classroom blends the district’s kindergarten curriculum with the Zoo’s unique resources.
Taught by Omaha Public Schools educators, students build a strong STEM foundation by observing animals, exploring ecosystems, and engaging in hands-on, inquiry-based learning that brings lessons to life. This immersive setting fosters curiosity, collaboration, and a vibrant community among students, teachers, and Zoo staff.
More than just academic growth, Zoo Kindergarten nurtures a lifelong connection to nature and deepens each student’s understanding of their role in the community and environment.
