Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium’s Zoo Schools are among the nation’s leading non-traditional science education models. Each year, Zoo Schools provide a rich learning environment for more than 225 students—from Early Childhood through Grade 12, not including our Zoo Afterschool Program participants.
Rooted in a strong sense of place and belonging, our classrooms foster curiosity, connection, and discovery. This approach is at the heart of our teaching philosophy, creating spaces that spark passion and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.
Our educators are nationally recognized leaders in science education, with three receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching—in 2010, 2019, and 2020.
